Tammin Long Table Lunch - Gather & Grow Project

On Thursday 26th March the Tammin Women in Farming Branch hosted a Long Table Lunch at the Tammin Golf Club, focusing on the theme of Resilience. The overall turnout was fantastic, with 43 attending. Women from all over the Wheatbelt joined us for the lunch.

We had four amazing women presenting as our guest speakers and each one of them shared a heartfelt and inspirational story of the challenges faced, how they have overcome these obstacles and how they are playing a role in supporting their community as well as surrounding communities. Though they spoke about very different topics, all had one thing in common. They told a story about resilience. They proved how powerful a community can be when we all come together to support one another.

Thank you to our guest speakers Karen Strange and Janine Dayman, both co-founders and CEO’s of Wheatbelt and Beyond Youth Mentoring; Tanya Kilminster, with the South-West WA Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hub and Julie Snooke, owner of The Maggies Nest Café. The presentations were truly inspiring.

Also thank you to Sonya Morley for the delicious grazing boxes and to the Women in Farming ladies for lots of treats and beautiful desserts. Everyone really enjoyed the food throughout the day! Also to our members for organising and supporting this event - many thanks.

The branch would like to acknowledge Aaron and Graham Cooper at Elders Cunderdin, the Cunderdin IGA and the Tammin Shire for their support of this event.

Lastly, we appreciate the support from the South-West WA Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hub through funding from the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund.
